WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT MAKES A PHONE CALL

When the Holy Spirit makes a  phone call

By J. Order

A young boy says to his preacher, “I just turned 12 and I’m learning scriptures and I been writing them down, but I’m sorry, I’m still a little confused, you said that there’s God the father, God the son, and God the Holy Spirit. Yet these 3 God’s are only 1 God?” The preacher replies, Yes, 3 separate persons, but only 1 essence, we call this the trinity.” The boy looks down and thinks for a moment and asks with uncertainty in his voice, “you mean like an ice cream cone with 3 different scoops of flavors, it’s 1 cone, and within this 1 cone there’s 3 flavors?” The preacher laughs and says, “well it’s a lot more complicated than that, but that’s a good little concept to start understanding who and what our God is.” The boy smiles, and says, “I love God, and I love ice cream, but when I pray, Jesus said to pray to the father and yet Jesus said in (John 14:13-14) [13 “And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it.”] The preacher says while nodding his head, “Yes, I love that scripture, you can pray to Jesus, he is your lord and savior, and he is the man at the right hand of God, and that scripture is (Acts 7:55) [55 “But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked intently into heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.”] The boy scratched his head and said, “wait, Jesus is standing at the right hand of God, I thought you said, God the son, this is what confuses me, oh, my friend always refers to God as (the most high) so I was looking at scriptures about him, and I think you can help me with these questions.” The preacher tapped on his Bible before he sighed during the boys admitted confusion, but proceeded by calming himself and accepting this challenge. So the preacher chuckled and says, “okay son, how has the Holy Spirit tickled your mind today?” The boy lifted up his chin and with a slight grin, he asked the preacher, “Does the Bible explain in one verse the trinity?” The preacher answers, “No, not in one verse, but we believe in the whole Bible and take inconsideration all scripture, so systematically we understand who God is and at the same time how overwhelming he is to our understanding. And the more you study and the more you have a relationship with God, the more the Holy Spirit will call upon you and you will be filled with  Gods Spirit and you will understand with clarity.” The boy looks at the preacher, then looks at his note pad, the page is titled “The most High,” and then the boy asked, “you said the Holy Spirit will call me, for clear understanding?” The preacher smiling says, “yes son, just pray for clarity and truth.” The boy sighed, like a calm breeze, the calm before a storm, like the hush of a crowd before an old western duel. The boy asks, “so you believe in The Whole bible, and how many people are the most high?” The preacher comments, “well now, THE MOST HIGH is God. God is 3 persons.” The boy looks at his note pad, says, “okay, that makes sense like in (Psalms 83:18) [”May they know that You alone, whose name is the LORD, are the Most High over all the earth.”] So LORD IS YHWH, is 3 persons?”] And Jesus is one of those 3 persons and the HOLY SPIRIT?” The preacher smiles and with excitement in his voice he expresses, “You got it!” The boy looks up to the ceiling and squints his eyes as if he’s looking beyond the material built by man, as if the clouds were in view. He then says, “Since we believe in the whole Bible and it doesn’t contradict, then In (Acts 7:48) or (Luke 1:32,33) when it talks about JESUS, he’s 1 of the persons of THE MOST HIGH?” The preacher, takes a deep breath and says, “well, you see, okay, ummm, here’s the thing, let’s read the verse together, (Luke 1:32,33) [32 “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David, 33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever. His kingdom will never end!”] Now the boys eyes light up and the preacher starts to rub his jaw. The preacher starts to understand the scripture explains THE MOST HIGH is the father alone. The spiritual father of the one who will be called the son of THE MOST HIGH. As this was swirling through the preachers mind, he had a struggle at how he was going to explain how is THE MOST HIGH 3 persons, but the father of Jesus. At that moment, his phone rang, as it was sinking in that THE MOST HIGH has always been the father alone. That's when the young boy says, “oh looky looky, looks like the Holy Spirit is finally CALLING YOU!”
