GENESIS 1:26 UNDERSTANDING

(Genesis 1:26) is as follows: 26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

This has been misunderstood by many, by inserting beings into the “US & OUR” in (Genesis 1:26) that are simply not there. Many will try to add another person of God, Jesus, or even an Angel into the mix. All those assumptions are wrong. First we must look at the context. This is all about procreation of mankind. Only God has given Humans the right to procreate mankind. There are 2 other scriptures that are right there in Genesis that clear this up with simplicity.

The first one we are going to look at is (Genesis 1:27) which states: 27 "So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."

So the scripture just informed us who the OUR is. The OUR is God, Adam and Eve. According to (Genesis 1:27), God made Adam and Eve in his own image, and authorized them to procreate. The US follows the same simplicity.

Let's pull another scripture, (Genesis 4:1) which states: 1 And Adam had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man,” she said.

“With the help of the LORD,” this statement by Adam just confirms the "US" in (Genesis 1:26).

When you don't add assumptions or bring false teachings into the scriptures, and you use other scriptures to answer questions with simplicity, you find truth. Read these 3 scriptures and you will understand the context of procreation and the image of God is what all this is about with clarity….

(Genesis 1:27) So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

(Genesis 1:26) Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness, to rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, and over all the earth itself and every creature that crawls upon it.”

(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and every creature that crawls upon the earth.”

(Genesis 4:1) And Adam had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain. “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man,” she said.

Now you have scripture cohesion without any assumptions.

A little side note: God never gave anyone the authority to make mankind but a human man, a human woman and God. This is the US. Even in (Genesis 6:1-4) when the sons of God (the fallen angels who engaged in unnatural union with human women), resulting in the begetting of the Nephilim (Giants). These were no ordinary human beings. The point of this, there is never any other example in the bible where a human child was not created without a man, a woman and God.
